After taking about one year off, I renewed my site this morning. This was an eventful year for me. Shortly after I began my 78th circumnavigation of the sun, I had quadruple bypass heart surgery at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.

I had a wonderful surgeon who visited me every day while I was in the hospital. The first four nights were in the Intensive Care Unit. I do not believe I had more than 8 hours of sleep during those four nights. The last 3 nights were in a regular room where there was far less noise and I was able to get more sleep. Moreover, my wife brought real food; much better than in the hospital.

The morning of the day I was being discharged, my mobile phone rang. The wife of my friend of 77 years, Danny, called telling me had died of a heart attack while sleeping. This put a damper on my elation of being discharged. Later, I thought that if one had to go, there are far worse ways for that to happen.

I endured pain from the incision in my chest for about 10 weeks. After that I was able to get back to my normal routine which includes reading, writing, fast walking and riding my Peleton. I quit riding my bicycle outdoors following my third concussion.

I am now using Outskirts Press to publish a new book titled Mergers & Acquisitions Playbook. It should be ready in about 10 weeks.
