I took this in late January at Carmel-by-the Sea in Northern California and just off the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, know to the locals as the PCH. The image looked great in color, but I wanted to render it in black and white to see the structure and texture of the rocks, water and surf. I shot this image using an aperture of f.22 and achieved sharpness throughout the image.

You captured a nice photograph… Waves are so nice.. Thank you, dear Richard, with my love, nia
Image looks very effective in black and white – seems to focus the eye on the splashing of the water against the rock.
Thank you. I try to use the golden proportion unless I am trying to achieve a special effect.
Hi,
A great photo, perfect capture of the splashing of the wave on the rocks, I love the texture of the rocks in the front, but I also like how you got the background in as well.
I accomplished this using the f.22 aperture. I also used dodging and burning on the rocks and surf. Thank you for your comment.
