This Fall the trophy Bull Elk lived in our neighborhood in Evergreen, Colorado.  He was very tame.  You could walk right up to him and, so long as you did not make any moves on his girls, he would just keep going wherever he willed.

We heard from neighbors that some gun toting idiot living in our community was sitting on his deck on day when this bull elk was passing by.  He went into his house to get his high powered scope equipped rifle and starting shooting at this majestic animal.  The first shot got him, but not well enough to kill him quickly.  He started running and our local idiot took off after him firing wildly.  This was a school day and children were frightened and crying.  Finally someone from the Colorado Department of Wildlife had the animal put down.

The only good news from all of this was that the Idiot’s wife threw him out  of their house.  He is being prosecuted from endangering public safety and no longer lives in the county
